Financial Planning Issues
- Rule of Thumb Planning- It is believed that rule of thumb planning is incompetent and unprofessional.
- Cash Flow- In general, it is believed that clients need total return, not dividends or interest. In some instances, cash flow is an appropriate planning goal.
- Capital Needs Analysis- It is believed that conservative assumptions are a dangerous myth. Conservative assumptions bring non-conservative results. Planning should be based upon goals.
- Goal Setting- It is believed that our clients should set their own goals. It is my responsibility to educate and assist the client to define, quantify, and prioritize their goals. It is also my responsibility to assist the client to recognize that there may be hidden goals which take priority.
